There was significant interest from the attendees in participating in and contributing to the Consortium. As a direct result of the event, several organizations indicated interest in becoming members of the CIC.

Schedule Changes

We received a significant number of comments on a wide variety of topics regarding the most recent draft of the CIC Bylaws. Comprising these comments and addressing the issues raised will take a few more weeks. Many of organizations have confirmed that it is vitally important to finish and ratify the Consortium bylaws before launching the Consortium. In turn, we must modify the timeline for the remainder of the year to meet this goal.

In summary, the changes to the schedule are the following:

  • Dec. 2 launch meeting postponed to January 18, 2000.
  • Final bylaw version distributed to CIC members on December 10
  • Bylaw ballots returned by CIC members by December 17
  • CIC nomination process begun, complete by end of December
  • CIC election process early January 2000.
  • CIC Launch event held on Jan. 18, 2000, at the Hyatt Regency - O’Hare, Chicago
CIC Nominations

The work of the Consortium will require the efforts of a large number of people, from a broad range of point-of-care testing backgrounds. We will assemble this group from a list of individuals nominated to participate in and contribute to the Consortium. These nominees must belong to member organizations, however anyone may make a nomination. Nominations will be accepted until December 31, 1999.

To nominate an individual for a CIC committee, please use the following process:

  1. Confirm that the nominee is willing to accept the nomination.
  2. Review the list of CIC members (at http://med.labs.agilent.com/CIC/cic_membership.shtml), to ensure that that individual represents a member organization.
  3. Send the following information via e-mail - mailto:nominations@med.labs.agilent.com
    • Nominee’s Name
    • Position nominated (one of the following: Board of Directors, Technical Committee, User Review Committee)
    • Nominee’s organization (i.e. the name of the company, hospital, etc.)
    • Nominee’s phone number
    • Nominee’s e-mail address

The up-to-date list of nominees can always be viewed on the CIC web site: http://med.labs.agilent.com/CIC

Best wishes to you and your families during this holiday season.
