  Fourth CIC Meeting

  The CIC held its fourth open meeting Monday, January 8, in Orlando, Florida. This meeting was held in conjunction with the HL7 Winter Working Group meetings at the Orlando Marriot Downtown. The HL7 Laboratory, Automated, and Point-of-Care Testing Special Interest Group (LAPOCTSIG) generously offered to share meeting space and time with our organization for this all day meeting (8:00AM to 5:00PM).

  CIC Presentation at Medica 2000

  The CIC held a public meeting in conjunction with the Medica 2000 Conference in Dusseldorf, Germany. Roche Diagnostics hosted this meeting, which took place on Thursday, November 23, from 9:30AM to 12:00PM.

  The objectives of this meeting were:

  • To present the CIC's progress and status to the international point-of-care user community
  • To solicit user feedback on the CIC's proposed standards
  • To enlist international user's help with ongoing review and advocacy of the CIC standards

  CIC European POCT User's Meeting

  The CIC held a meeting with European providers on Sunday, September 24, in Milan, Italy.

  The objectives of this meeting were:

  • To discuss trends and issues concerning connectivity in Europe
  • To solicit user feedback on the CIC's proposed standards

• July 27, 2000 (San Francisco, CA)
  CIC Meeting at AACC

  The CIC held its third major technical meeting in San Francisco on July 27, 2000. Bayer Diagnostics sponsored the meeting, which was attended by 57 individuals representing 28 organizations from 15 states and 4 countries.

  Meeting participants reviewed the Consortium's technical progress. Attendees also developed 8 week work plans to address several remaining technical issues: messages to support QA/QC, and ordering workflows. Finally, participants evaluated and critiqued the CIC's progress to date. When asked to rate the Consortium's progress relative to their expectations, attendees responded positively with an average score of 7.89 on a scale of one to ten (high: 11, low: 5).
