CIC Plan and Bylaws Ratified

The ballot period for the CIC Plan and Bylaws documents has ended. The ballots returned to date overwhelmingly favor the adoption of the final version of the Consortium Plan and Bylaws. As of January 20, thirty organizations have returned affirmative ballots, and no organizations have returned negative responses. In addition, twenty-two organizations have already signed the formal Membership Letter of Agreement, and several have deposited their membership dues in the CIC escrow account. With this outstanding support for the CIC's plan, we are confident that we have reached the final Consortium organization and membership model.

If you are a prospective CIC member, please check the membership status page to ensure that we have received all of the required membership documents. If a document is missing, please return it at your earliest convenience.

Sunquest to host Feb. 22 Launch Meeting

Sunquest Information Systems has generously offered to host the CIC Launch Meeting on Tuesday, February 22, in Tucson, Arizona. All CIC member organizations are invited to send representatives to this one-day meeting. Additional information about the location, logistics and reservation process are available on the web site. You may also review the latest draft of the agenda for this meeting. If you have any further questions or comments about the Launch meeting, please e-mail them to launch@med.labs.agilent.com

CIC Incorporation Status

In preparation for the Consortium's launch, we have filed for incorporation of the Connectivity Industry Consortium in California as a non-profit organization. Federal and tax exemption filings have been prepared, and will be filed once the Board of Directors has been named.

Board of Directors Elections

Balloting for the election of the Board of Directors has commenced. The Core Vendor member organizations will elect five Board members from a slate of nine nominees, one from each Core Vendor organization. You may view the nominees and their short biographies on the web site's nominations page. The ballot period will end on Monday, January 31. The results of the election will be announced on the CIC web site.

Officer and Technical Committee nominations

The Consortium's officers, executives and committee chairs will be appointed from a list of individuals nominated to participate in and contribute to the Consortium. These nominees must belong to member organizations, however anyone may make a nomination (self-nominations are accepted). I am pleased to report that we have already received a sizable list of names. You are invited to provide further nominations for the various categories, as the list is not yet sufficient. To view the current list of nominees and to make a nomination, please refer the the CIC Nominations web page.
