In 2000, the CIC launched a European Round Table Initiative with the goal of involving European users and vendors in the developing efforts and to internationalize the standard and to ensure that POC suppliers and users in Europe can be kept informed about and have an opportunity to contribute to international POC standardization after the CIC sunset in 2001.
